December 3, Email to Hani Shukrallah & Mona Anis,
Al-Ahram Weekly
Dear Mr. Shukrallah and Ms. Anis,
I thought your Al-Ahram Weekly’s Shock and awe v2.0
and World Domination, Inc. were both well
thought out articles. Both agreed
substantially with the kind of thing I’ve been writing a lot and publishing a
bit in my home city of Houston, Texas.
I am a former U.S. Army
officer who has been against the war in Iraq from the start. As a matter of fact, on April 3, just days
before the Battle of Baghdad, the Houston Chronicle carried my essay “Visions
of Stalingrad: Claim victory in Iraq now”
in which I predicted pretty much the kind of quagmire we are stuck in – along
with the possibility of a world war. On
July 8, the Houston Chronicle carried my essay “Still
worried about quicksand of war in Iraq” in which I called
for the investigation of the president for waging an unjust war.
Needless to say, the
president didn’t like my published essays, and sees to it that U.S.
newspapers don’t print any more of them.
I hope you’ll enjoy the two essays (they’re below). Should you be interested in the kind of
things the American media doesn’t have the honesty or courage to print, you can
find plenty in my attached unpublished essays. Should you wish to
learn a bit about how it felt to be a dissident back in July, when Blair
assassinated Dr.
Kelly and Bush set Valerie Plame up
for assassination, please refer to my July
letters (also attached).
I hope a bit of reading
will convince you that some of us over here are thinking clearly. Unfortunately, we’re the minority, and we’re
not the ones telling the public what to think. [Editor’s emphasis] Please feel free to distribute anything I’ve
sent, and please feel free to write back if you want to.
