Ghost Troop Home Page April Fools Part 2
Dear Amy,
You were most kind in our conversation. Thanks for finding ten minutes to talk to me with an open mind. By the way, now that you’ve got me in mind of my classical languages, I should give a brief etymology of your name:
Your first name is from the French noun ami, which is from the Latin noun amicus, “friend.” Your last name is from the Latin adjective, bonum, “good,” which became a noun bonitas, “a good” Bonitas declines into the ablative plural case as bonitatibus. Therefore, your whole name means a friend with the goods. Well, that’s who you’ll soon think I am, too, because I’m going to deliver you some goods to do the most important work of your life, and you’ll call me your friend for doing it. Ready?
Below are excerpts from my pending classic, which is simply my correspondence and op-eds relative to the tragedy and travesty of the government cover-up of the Battle of Baghdad, April 6/7. Since that night I have vowed to bring the truth to light, no matter what the consequences to myself. I shall append my op-eds, published and unpublished, along with a letter or two that a coward or two merited along the way. And in my book anyone who doesn’t help bring the truth to light is a coward.
Please contact me before the end of the week if Senator Clinton would like to advance the cause of sanity for a nation that is deluded by propaganda, and the cause of honor for the desecrated memory of my comrades in the 3/7 Cavalry Squadron and the 3rd Infantry Division. I should like it if she were to ask for the honor of calling for the investigation that will result in the end of the war and the impeachment of the commander in chief.
Captain May
