Dear Mr. Crockett, I
enjoyed your op-ed and our conversation greatly. It’s refreshing to think that there are still

PS: I’ve just spoken with Mr. Lawrence, as you advised, and he was also kind enough to extend an invitation to me. He asked that you share the (abridged) manuscript with him. I hope the two of you will be even more pleased after reading it than you have been in our conversations. As for me, I’m in high cotton nowadays, and hope that George XLIII will be under control before he can get us into a world war. I’m going to go ahead and copy a few of the readers of my private newsletter (each missive is an entry). You’ll find some illustrious names on the cc list, and they all read every word. After all, I’m writing what they’re scared to write, but love to read.
